Well it is official, our stuff is gone! Yesterday we got it all loaded onto a moving truck and off it went this morning. Over the past couple weeks Melanie did an excellent job of getting our stuff together, sorted, organized, inventoried, and packed. Every box was numbered and color coded for its destination. If you ask me where a specific book or toy is, I can tell you the box number.
Yesterday we had several friends come over to help roll our boxes on hand trucks down the driveway, across the street, and into the Missionary Transport semi truck. The team did an excellent job getting everything moved and loaded into the truck in just under two hours, of course mostly thanks to the great supervision I provided 🙂 The truck was too big to fit down our driveway and almost too big to get down the street, but thanks to a creative driver named Jim, it worked out. Also nice for us since it was almost the end of the workday for Jim, he was able to stay the night with us and we had a great time hearing his stories about his time serving with Wycliffe as an aviation mechanic in many countries around the world.
Our stuff should arrive in NC in a couple weeks after Jim makes a few more stops along the way moving some other folks too. It will be interesting to see if living with few belongings for the next couple of months changes our perception and then we’ll no longer “need” much of the stuff we shipped out. A huge thank you to everyone who gave us boxes, came to help load, and is letting us borrow furniture and toys. We couldn’t have done it without you!
God is continuing to provide for our needs and are now down to $294 needed in recurring monthly pledges. With my surgery just a few weeks away, now we’re really praying that God will bring us our remaining financial partners soon so that once I’m recovered we can hop in the car and roll out!
